Jeb Dunnuck ReviewRated 93-95
The 2022 Château Lascombes is a ripe, powerful wine that holds onto a terrific sense of purity and freshness. Black fruits, smoky oak, lead pencil, and tobacco all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a layered, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, building tannins, and a great finish. A killer bottle of wine, it's going to benefit from short-term cellaring. Tasted twice.
Wine Tasting Notes
An alliance of power and elegance, unctuousness and tannic richness, Chateau Lascombes is a complex wine. Young, her deep dress is always impressive. The palate combines finesse and mellow with a very noble grain of tannin. Over the years, you have to rediscover Chateau Lascombes to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and see its increasingly suave structure evolve.
First discreet nose before the explosion of black fruits on aeration. A superb assortment of very ripe fruits such as blackberry, sun-drenched cherry, all complemented by notes of chocolate and mocha. Great aromatic complexity and a lot of finesse. The attack in the mouth is fresh and mellow. All the power and structure is counterbalanced by the roundness, fat, liveliness and elegance of the aromas. Behind the velvet of this case is immediately perceived the breadth of the wine, as well as its fine and tight tannic frame, characteristic of the 2022 vintage. We find black fruits, spices and the finish is incredibly long.
