All the hallmark Gimblett Gravels characteristics are here on this affordable single vineyard red blend: pencil lead, tobacco, cherry, blackberry, licorice and dried violet. The palate flexes muscles but the lifted acidity and powdery, spicy tannins don't obscure the fruit or site expression. A wine of power but also of clarity and approachability. Have a decanter and a plate of protein at hand or hold another few years.
Wine Tasting Notes
Deepest crimson red. Brooding aromatically with notes of cassis, black olive, dried tobacco and the faintest hint of caramel. The wine has lovely focus on the palate with dark fruits framed by fine tannins to deliver a classical structure with an excellent future ahead.
