Wine Advocate ReviewRated 94
The 2023 Chardonnay Estate underwent full malolactic conversion and matured for 11 months in 100% new oak. It has youthful but classy new oak aromas of toast, vanilla and spice over a core of yellow apple, quince and honeyed tones. The medium-bodied palate is luxuriously satiny, concentrated and ripe, its nuanced fruit enlivened by surprisingly fresh acidity. It has a touch of old-school, tropical malolactic character, yet streaks of matchstick keep it tethered to the ground. Lovely! Drink 2025-2035.
Wine Tasting Notes
This pure, elegant Daou Paso Robles Chardonnay shows what is possible from Chardonnay grown at select coastal sites in Paso Robles. It offers inviting aromas of Bosc pear, pineapple and guava graced with hints of hibiscus flower, white peach and allspice. Notes of honeysuckle and vanilla complement fragrances of tropical fruit and warm toast. The palate is lush and silky, with mouth filling flavors of sweet honeydew melon, mango, pineapple and vanilla creme brulee. Complementary flavors of citrus and nectarine are accented by suggestions of hazelnut and toasted almonds throughout an amazingly long, supple finish.
