VinoUS Media ReviewRated 98
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon was just bottled this past summer. It is of course a very young wine, but possesses tremendous aromatic nuance and freshness to play off a core of huge dark fruit. Readers will have to be patient with the 2018, as it is an imposing, vertical Cabernet that needs years to be at its best. Bright floral and spice notes lift the soaring finish as the wine's inner sweetness gradually emerges over time. The 2018 is super-impressive. That's all there is to it. Drinking Window 2028-2048. Wine Tasting Notes
Mayacamas Mt. Veeder Cabernet is very vibrant and youthful in color, with a nose of violet, red plum, rasberry, licorice, and spice. On the palate, a splash of more intense red cherries washes in, along with an edge of black tea, tobacco, mint, and a finish that is long with blackberries. The acidity is fresh, and the tannins are unified and supporting. Structurally, this is an elegant, food-friendly Cabernet Sauvignon, middle-weight, deep, and intense, with an old-world expression.
