I was blown away by the 2019 Pinot Noir Bentrock Vineyard, which is up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Medium-bodied, finesse-driven, and incredibly elegant, it has a great, great bouquet of black raspberries, cherries, wild strawberries, sappy flowers, and violets. Utterly seamless, with fine tannins, no hard edges, and perfectly integrated acidity, give it a year and enjoy over the following decade. Drinking window 2022-2032.
Wine Tasting Notes
Characteristic Bentrock notes of dense, dark fruit and cooling, fresh green herbs. Black cherry and blood orange with lifted mint and flowering black sage. Very mouthwatering and bright vintage. Distinguished, refined, and tightly coiled. Seamless red fruit and layers of fine and chalky tannin. Showing off its youth and inner tension. Hints of white pepper and cured meat. Tasting notes from a seven-day open bottle, so this wine looks to have a promising evolution in the cellar. Classic The Hilt Bentrock Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir from an exceptional vintage. Silky and bright fruit with great crunch.
